Installation Tips & Options

These are a few installation tips & options to help get the most out of your Liquidomes Detectable
Warning installation.

Product is recommended for application when the air and surface temperature are between 42 and 97 degrees F. It is not recommended to apply when raining.

Clean & Prepare Surface

Before starting your installation, use a hand blower or sweep the area to remove all debris. Identify any abnormalities in the substrate and address accordingly: scrape any rocks, gum or asphalt defects. Some areas may require a light grinding to level or remove surface defects and debris.

Perform a Viscosity Test

Before installing the Liquidomes product, we recommend performing a viscosity test. Due to varying climates, desired height and width of the truncated domes, you may require a thicker or thinner product. This test gives the installer a preview of the truncated dome before applying to the actual surface.

Dome Alignment

To align detectable warning for crosswalks/intersections, we suggest two people to setup. Person A will stand on one corner holding a chalk box from respective mat template and Person B will be on alternate corner holding the string of chalk box to second location mat template. Snap the line of the chalk box between both mat templates. This line will ensure the true direction of travel.

When installing a detectable warning that is larger than a standard 2′ x 5′, line up mat template using perforated slits indicated on mat templates. These guides will be helpful to ensure your truncated domes are properly aligned and in complete compliance with ADA standards. The installer can manipulate the mat templates to create a true direction of travel and a perfect radius, if needed.

Creating Expansion Joints

In relation to asphalt installations, we offer an additional step which may increase the integrity of the detectable warning. After the domes are dry, trim the entire perimeter with a hand grinder creating an approximate ¼ inch expansion joint.

Fill expansion joint with recommended caulking. Then, re-tape the ramp perimeter using the outer edge of the expansion joint as your guide. Continue with your installation.
